At least five Republicans are set to speak at the Democratic National Convention. Here’s what to know about them:
John Giles, the mayor of Mesa, Arizona, announced his support for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in July. Speaking to CNN, Giles said, "This was not something I was eager to do... but sometimes there are issues and questions in life that are simply too important to remain silent."
Geoff Duncan, the former lieutenant governor of Georgia, has expressed his support for Kamala Harris. In an interview with CNN, he shared a message for Republicans nationwide:
"Voting for Kamala Harris in 2024 doesn’t make you a Democrat. It makes you a patriot. It means you're fulfilling your duty as an American by stepping up to reclaim this country’s future," Duncan stated.
Stephanie Grisham, who served as White House press secretary for less than a year during the Trump administration, held several senior positions over her five years working for both Donald and Melania Trump. She has also authored a book about her experience as Melania's chief of staff.
Olivia Troye, a former national security official in the Trump White House, appeared with Kamala Harris at an event in Michigan just days before President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.
